Month 1 part 1

Never take a selfie with me, this will be the result!

So it wasn't very long ago that I looked at the calendar and realized I've been here over a month, so to celebrate I'm going to give a quick rundown on some of the things I've done. While more in depth posts on these activities will follow, I am not sure when... I'm drowning in homework.

Week 1

So I survived my arrival to Japan! Luckily for me it was nowhere near as traumatic as last time, and though it was slow... at least I didn't end up covered in maple syrup. I actually knew that I could have my luggage delivered to my share house, I knew the train lines and I still had my Suica from last time.

This isn't to say I didn't get lost trying to find the office for my share house. Luckily I managed to phone them 3 minutes before they closed, I must have sounded pretty pathetic because they actually came and got me. After all the documents were signed I was on my way to my new house... where I could not open the door. They gave me a key card saying it was for the house, and a key for the room. I kept flashing the card at what I soon realized was a doorbell. Luckily someone came and opened the door for me, apparently I was at the door for deliveries. I went to the combini to grab something to eat, and had forgotten to ask the person how to open the door. LUCKILY I accidentally pressed a button and opened it.

Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome

Hey there, so I guess I'm going to make this my introductory post. My name is Sarah, I'm female and I'm from Canada. The reason for this blog is simple, I'm going to live in Japan for at least a year and trouble seems to find me wherever I go. You can potentially learn from my mistakes...

This blog will have posts about historical costuming, my favourite is 18th century at the moment so be prepared, and life in Japan.

I'm going to make another post about my previous experiences in Japan at a later date. For now let me tell you the current info.

I am going to Tokyo to start school at a Japanese university. I found a place to live, a flight, etc... Everything was planned, but as usual.... disaster strikes! Friday before I leave my certificate of eligibility arrives, now I previously contacted the consulate in Calgary with questions about how to get my visa once this comes. They said to scan and email the documents and it would be fine. On friday afternoon they tell me I have to come IN PERSON to the consulate! I was supposed to fly to Calgary on tuesday, now I have to fly there on monday... why do things like this always happen to me?

Anyhow as it is late at night and I have to get on a plane tomorrow I shall bid adieu.
